How I approached the blueberry part, re-sculpted it towards the end of the project.

The petals were drawn, warped, then turned to geo with the trace node in Houdini. I edited the normals on the boundaries of the hemispheres to point in the same direction as the petals, then blurred the normals of the non-boundary points slightly.
